How can I become an AHA Instructor?

The steps are simple – get started today!

  1. Be accepted by your local training center before enrolling in an Instructor Course and have a completed Instructor Candidate Application on file with that Training Center.
  2. Have a current AHA provider status and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline.
  3. Complete an Online Instructor Essential.
  4. Successfully complete the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course .
  5. Successfully be monitored teaching your first course within six months of completing the discipline-specific classroom Instructor Course. Training Center Coordinators can require additional monitoring based on the result given by Training Center Faculty.

Once you become an Instructor, you will have access to the most current emergency cardiovascular care science, course updates, training resources and tools through the online AHA Instructor Network. You will also be able to post class dates and times to reach more students through AHA public website.

DISCLAIMER: The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.

Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA.

Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials; do not represent income to the AHA.
